ALL ARE WELCOME: MIGRANT SOLIDARITY FROM THE BORDER TO THE BAY
Saturday February 8, 2020
7:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Berkeley
Thousands of migrants await justice in shelters, border camps, and private detention facilities across the U.S and México. In spite of the inhumane immigration policies, people are still arriving at the border seeking asylum and 25,000 migrants are waiting in Mexico to begin their asylum process.
Join the Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), the Interfaith Movement 4 Human Integrity (IM4HI), and SURJ-Bay Area for an evening of sharing, solidarity and action.
Ongoing since Jan 12, 2020
Brownsville, TX & Matamoros, Mexico
Witness at Tornillo: MPP plans a sustained effort protesting the tent courts in Brownsville, TX, where injustice is handed out in secret every day, dashing the hopes of desperate, vulnerable people encamped across the international bridge, in the city of Matamoros, in Mexico. The willing, with passports, will be able to cross during our vigil, to see firsthand the cruelty inflicted in our name. This is not voyeurism. You will be expected to report to everyone you know about what you see. And what you see will not just break your heart, but also arm you with the righteous anger you will need to make your voices heard. We are at a critical moment. This MPP policy exposes families to rape, kidnap and murder, not just hunger and disease. The persecution of refugees has risen in a crescendo of hate. Our response, fueled by love, must meet the evil on its front lines. At the border. We must end MPP. #Witness
