#EstamosContigo #CoastsideChristmas in action on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in downtown Half Moon Bay at the Half Moon Bay Library! Bags and boxes were prepared for pickup with special holiday food for over 350 families. Remarks at the event shared by Rep. Jackie Speier (CA-14); State Senator Josh Becker (Dist. 13); City Councilmember Joaquin Murrieta Jimenez and Ayudando Latinos A Soñar - ALAS staff; Bay Area Border Relief's Lilli Rey and Belinda Arriaga; HMB city reps; with the assistance of over 50 volunteers. STRENGTH sheds light on the asylum seeker coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to the United States. The film provides a platform for these immigrants to tell their stories and share their motives for migration.

Feb 26-Mar 1, 2020 Matamoros, Mexico and Brownsville, TX BABR humanitarian mission with a team of 18 to Brownsville, TX for tent court visits, meal prep for 1,000+ with World Central Kitchen, observation of ICE deportation flights, Witness at the Border protest and support to the migrants in the Matamoros, Mexico tent encampment and refugee stories and art collection. Hundreds of notecards of compassion and support were hand-delivered from allies in the SF Bay Area. Dec 17, 2019 webinar DEFENDING HUMANITY: Caring for Refugees and Migrants Trapped in Danger December 11, 2019 Triton Museum Santa Clara, CA Belinda Hernandez Arriaga in conversation with artist Na Omi Judy Shintani's exhibit: “Dream Refuge for Imprisoned Children” October 19-25, 2019 Matamoros, Mexico and Brownsville, TX A Bay Area Border Relief team of 24 volunteers traveled to the southern TX border, to the tent encampment just over the international bridge from Brownsville, TX in Matamoros, Mexico, where they assisted asylum-seeking families and children with basic needs, including food and clothing. On three consecutive nights, the BABR team collaborated with Team Brownsville to prepare and serve meals for 1,000+ residents of the tent city. One additional evening meal, organized in conjunction with a local "hip-hop" pastor was paid for by donations to BABR and served by our team. August 10, 2019 “Conversation about America: Justice for All” with Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) at Canada College Redwood City to discuss the humanitarian crisis at our southern border. The general town hall will begin with a presentation and slide show from the recent Congressional Delegation trip to the border with 18 colleagues. It's a humanitarian crisis we must end.
